“Little Tech” Responds to Governor Newsom Signing SB 53 Into Law

By: American Innovators Network

Sacramento, CA (September 30, 2025) – Today, American Innovators Network (AIN) Executive Director Vanessa Day released the following statement on Governor Gavin Newsom signing Senate Bill 53, the Transparency in Frontier Artificial Intelligence Act:

“We share the bill’s intent to enhance AI transparency and the Governor’s recognition that lasting solutions must come from the federal level, we remain concerned that regulating AI at the model level risks creating a patchwork of 50-state compliance regimes—an approach that will hurt Little Tech and weaken the competitiveness of the U.S. AI market.

California has an important role to play in AI, but only a clear and consistent federal framework can both safeguard citizens and keep the U.S. ahead in the global AI race. We remain committed to constructive dialogue on AI legislation to foster a balanced framework that protects innovation while also promoting safety.”
